Rehabilitation without replacement

Concrete coatings for sewer structures in Lakeland, FL

Coating systems that rehabilitate deteriorating concrete instead of excavating and replacing it. For structures that are degrading but still sound enough to save, which is most of them if you catch them in time.

What it does

Replacing a sewer structure is the expensive answer

Digging out a manhole means traffic control, excavation, a new structure, backfill, compaction and surface restoration. The structure itself is often the cheapest line on that invoice.

A coating rehabilitates the existing structure in place. The road stays closed for hours rather than days, and the concrete that is still sound keeps doing its job.

Straight answer

A coating does not save a failed structure

There is a point past which coating is not the answer. A structure that has lost section, or lost its shape, needs replacing, and we will tell you that rather than sell you a product that will not hold.

That judgement comes off the inspection, not off a phone call. It is why we would rather look first.

Where it is used

Where coatings make sense

Degrading manholes

Surface loss at the crown and cone, caught before it reaches structural section.

Life extension

Wet wells and lift stations

Constant exposure, where replacement means taking the station offline.

No shutdown

Under traffic

Structures in a roadway or drive aisle where excavation closes the surface.

Traffic stays up

Budget planning

Extending service life across a system while a replacement program is funded.

Buys time

Questions we get

Concrete coatings, answered

How do I know if a coating will hold?

Condition first. A MACP coded manhole inspection tells you whether the structure has the section left to justify a coating, or whether it is past that.

Is this the same as lining a pipe?

No. Pipe lining rehabilitates a run of pipe. This is protecting and rehabilitating a concrete structure such as a manhole, wet well or lift station.

How long does it last?

That depends on the product, the environment and the condition of the substrate. Ask us with a specific structure in mind rather than in the abstract.
